Meet in the park!
Great Gates - St Monica's RC Primary School, Enfield
The old borough coat of arms on the gate told the children a lot about their area. Southgate used to be part of a royal forest.  The oak tree at the top, with a bow and quiver of arrows hanging on its trunk, told them that hunters used to go there. The deer holding up the shield told them which animals the hunters used to catch. The gate reminded them of the name of their area - Southgate. The motto, in Latin, at the bottom, says 'Oaks grow from acorns' meaning 'Big things have small beginnings'.
