Grave questions

Many parks and green spaces have been formed by church graveyards and public cemeteries.

Graveyards and cemeteries can be very old or new. They can be next to a church or religious building or they can be areas on their own.

  • Why do you think your nearest graveyard or cemetry is built where it is?
  • Could it be very old?
  • What does it tell you about the surrounding community?

There are two ways to do this activity:

West Ham Jewish Cemetery, Newham, 15K
West Ham Jewish Cemetery, Newham
Either:

Print out the worksheet below and using a local map see if you can answer the questions for your nearest graveyard or cemetry.

Or:
Answer the worksheet questions online using the map supplied.
