                                                 Year 2 children used the support 
                                                  of the Project to learn more 
                                                  about World War I and Remembrance 
                                                  Day.  Their school stands 
                                                  directly opposite Wandsworth 
                                                  Cemetery.  Because there 
                                                  was a hospital nearby, which 
                                                  took injured soldiers from the 
                                                  Front in 1916, there are a number 
                                                  of Australian, Canadian and 
                                                  New Zealand soldiers buried 
                                                  in the cemetery. 
                                                The children visited the cemetery, 
                                                  learned about the symbols to 
                                                  be found on many of the tombstones, 
                                                  and took rubbings of many of 
                                                  the regimental badges, and the 
                                                  names of the soldiers, to take 
                                                  back to school for display. 
                                                Reading the names and ages 
                                                  on the tombstones made them 
                                                  all realise how young many soldiers 
                                                  were, and understand the sacrifices 
                                                  made by so many people in war.
