The
Great Debate - Freezywater Saint
George's C of E Primary School,
Enfield
Year
Three children visited Forty Hall
Park. They learnt a lot
about the trees in the park, and
found out that the park used to
belong to Forty Hall, a beautiful
old house nearby. Back at
school next day, they organised
a great debate. They pretended
that property developers wanted
to buy the park, and build houses
for homeless people all over it.
Half the class wrote down
reasons why the park should be
saved, and half of them wrote
down reasons why the houses should
be built. They presented their
ideas to each other, and took
a vote on their decision.
They found that good debate can
change people's minds!!
Then they designed posters on
the computer to support their
point of view.
