Activity Topic 2: People's parks
Family plots

Many parks and green spaces have been formed by church graveyards and public cemeteries.

Graveyards can give us an idea about people in the past from the information carved on the gravestones. Gravestones can tell us how long people lived, who was married to whom, which families lived in the area, which families were wealthy and what were the common causes of death.

This activity is designed to be printed out and taken with you on a visit to a graveyard or cemetery.
